Real Estate is HOT!

Back in summer of 2009, Air Waves pretty much ruled the world, or at least Brooklyn. Whether or not I intended on seeing them, they were everywhere, like midget terrorists disguised as garden gnomes. Anyway, Air Waves is back with a fantastic full length that is well worth your time and money, so go ahead and order yourself a copy. Actually, I'm sure you've been eating way too much pizza and watching way too much porn and probably neglecting holiday shopping, so maybe you wanna order copies for all your friends, too. HOLIDAZE ROOL.

Found some pretty shitty mp3 recordings from Fluffy Lumbers (Sam Franklin solo) at the CMJ Underwater Peoples Afternoon Delight at Cameo back in 2009. Check it out.

The Suburbs - Arcade Fire

Oh man, June is almost over and my obsession with lists has once again begun. I don't write about music and I certainly don't read what others write, but I love lists. Here are some pretty shitty lists:

Paste's Best Music of 2010 so far.

NPR's Listeners' Top 50 Albums so far.

Oprah's Handbag's Top 67 Albums of 2010, so far.

#1 Pill Wonder - Jungle/Surf

This song is so great, it makes me pee myself. Order the best record of 2010 here: http://pillwonder.blogspot.com/

Summer Tits

A friend of mine who is also a world renowned journalist once explained to me the concept of summer tits. I love summer tits. But there are things that are far more wonderful about the summer that extends beyond summer tits (although I really love that, too). There's a wonderful thing called Underwater Peoples and last summer, it was the only reason that I was excited to leave the exquisite realm of Greeceland and come back to this land called Brooklyn for a show that lasted forever. In retrospect, it was probably both the worst night ever and yet the most wonderful thing I've ever been to. The highlight of 2009 was without a doubt, the underwater peoples showcase that happened at Market Hotel. Of course being a Strong Island baby that I am, I arrived right on time so I could see the set of Liam The Younger who is probably the only reason I ever found out about Underwater Peoples. So I sat there from 4 PM to 11:30 PM the day after I arrived back in America Land and it was the grandest. I think it was right about the time when Big Troubles popped out of the world's big musical vagina. Every single one of my favorite bands played that day/night! Pill Wonder, Family Portrait, Julian Lynch (on a projector), Liam the Younger, Fluffy Lumbers, Frat Dad, Real Estate, Andrew Cedermark (probably my favorite set), Big Troubles, Ducktails, and did Alex Bleeker play? I don't remember. But I do remember leaving early right before Real Estate and feeling like death and as I wandered around the Jamaica LIRR station I specifically recall people on the sidewalk telling me I looked like I was about to die. "OH GURL YOU LOOK LIKE SHIT" "OH GURL YOU LOOK DEAD" Then I passed out in a little waiting room, sleeping so sound and wonderfully only to wake a minute after my train passed. Then I patiently waited for two more hours until the next one came. Anyway, the point is, that's a kind of funny story and Underwater Peoples is awesommmeee and summer is here which means Underwater Peoples BETTER do another showcase. OR ELSE.

Underwater People's, advocating for a better America Land.

YES

NEW UNDER WATER PEOPLES COMP!!!!!

It will include Family Portrait, Andrew Cedermark, and Real Estate!

And I hope it will include this sweet band that played their CMJ showcase at Cameo Gallery called Sunn Dagger. They were fucking awesome and their recorded stuff is wonderful. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/sunnndagger

PS. Fluffy Lumbers have a new 7" coming up with an insanely catchy song that they also played at the Under Water Peoples Showcase during CMJ. SO EXCITED FOR 2010 (and Christmas).
