College radio is fucking awesome. WUSB is the bombest, but there are other things out there that you should know about, too.
There's this dude is Massachusetts that goes by the name of Jeff Goldblum or Goldstien and he has this awesome radio show on WMUA (awesome radio station, very much like WUSB programming) and he has probably one of the best online blogs ever, Friendship Bracelet. Jeff is the dude that discovers the freshest and newest jamz of the underground realm of music and then every one reads that and posts it on their own blogs. I've found out about a ton of awesome bands via Friendship Bracelet. His show airs on Monday nights via WMUA but I think there should be an archive available if you can't tune in at that time.
Then there's this awesome blonde chick called Jenn Pelly who is actually 1 of 2 amazing people; they go by the Pelly Twins but they conquer the world individually and they both work at college radio but in two different states. Maybe they'll start multiplying and conquer college radio in all 50 states. Anyway, after checking out their blog, I'm going to assume they both have really fantastic radio shows and you should listen to them. I think there's one on WNYU and one somewhere in MA. I'm sure they'll have some kind of information on their blog.
There's also another chick in Brooklyn who has this amazing blog called the New York Rockmarket. It's a bit more cliche of a name, but don't be fooled! This blog is awesome and she is a fantastic writer and takes excellent photographs. I really really love her writing so much. Anyway, she is also a radio deejay somewhere and I think it might WMFU. I will update this post much later and let yawl know where it really is.
UPDATE: she actually has a show on Breakthru radio! Click the link and go to their website, once your there, check out the deejay list and pick the beautiful name Madalyn and BAM youz there. Enjoy the jamz and her lovely voice. PS. I definitely spelt Massachusetts wrong. :[ SPELL CHECK GURL.
COMING SOON: NUDE VLOGGING
